I’m pleased to share a recent highlight from my PhD journey, where I completed a 2-week research secondment at the beautiful Università degli Studi G. d’Annunzio Chieti-Pescara campus, in Italy through an EU-Resolve mobility grant.
During my secondment, I gained hands-on experience in mass spectrometry analysis of lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) encapsulating specialised pro-resolving mediators (SPMs). This work contributed to the characterisation of these innovative delivery systems, helping to investigate their lipid composition and biophysical properties. This is crucial as this answered some of the key questions we had with regards to the delivery of Lipoxins using lipid nanoparticles.
Beyond the technical skills gained, the secondment was a valuable opportunity to work within a different research environment, learn new analytical approaches, and develop international research collaborations.
I’m very grateful to the team in Chieti for their immense support and expertise throughout my visit, as well as their amazing hospitality. I would also like to thank the mobility grant programme team for making this experience possible.
Experiences like this have been a great reminder of the value of international collaboration and interdisciplinary approaches in advancing research.
