Conference: Aptamers 2026, held in the United Kingdom, an international conference dedicated to the latest advances in aptamer research and applications.
The researchers presented their work in both poster and flash talk formats:
Inês presented “DNA aptamers targeting FimH as a novel strategy to control Salmonellosis”, introducing FimH as a novel molecular target for the development of DNA aptamers to control Salmonella infections. By targeting this bacterial adhesion protein, the work explores an alternative anti-virulence strategy that could reduce bacterial colonization while contributing to the development of innovative approaches to combat antimicrobial resistance.
Débora presented “Aptamers as next-generation smart therapeutics for breast cancer”, highlighting the potential of aptamers as highly specific targeted therapeutics for breast cancer, with the aim of improving treatment efficacy while minimizing off-target effects.
The conference provided an excellent platform to disseminate the project’s research, engage with leading experts in the field, and establish new international collaborations. Through scientific sessions, poster discussions, and networking activities, the researchers exchanged ideas with the international aptamer community and gained valuable insights into emerging technologies and future directions in the field.
